Help With Scottsdale Arts Festival Art Auction Online Bidding This section provides you instructions and tips on how to use the Auction’s online bidding system:
Registration Tips
- To bid on any item, you must be a registered user. Click on the REGISTER button at the top of the screen. Provide the information requested. Your Username and password may be any combination of letters and numbers.
- Lookup for forgotten passwords. In the “Pick a Username and Password” section, be sure to select a question and provide the answer. If you forget your Username and/or password, we will use the question and your answer to verify who you are before giving you the lost Username and/or password.
- Register one time only. Once you have registered, you can access the system at any time using your Username and password. It is not necessary to re-register every time you want to check your bids or make new bids.
- Notification. When you register, you are required to enter an email address and the system will notify you when you have successfully registered. You will also be notified when you have entered a successful bid, have been outbid or have won an auction.
Tips for Logging On/Retrieving Your Lost Password
- Because bidding can occur in a very public space (the Scottsdale Center for the Arts Atrium), we have built in certain safeguards. Among them is the need for a Username and password every time you initiate a bid (in VIEW ART/BID) or check the status of your bids (in MY AUCTION).
- The fastest way to verify your bids or make additional bids is to click the MY AUCTION button at the top of the screen. Then enter your Username and password.
- IF YOU FORGET YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD, you can retrieve them.
· Click on MY AUCTION. · When the log-in page appears, click on “Forgot Your Password?”. · A “Retrieve Your Password” page will appear. · Complete the requested information and click “Submit.” You must use the same question and answer you provided when you registered.
Searching for an Item
- Click the VIEW ART/BID button at the top of the screen.
- Search for an item by the artist’s name or by the item number, or browse the auction by categories (e.g., photography or glass). Item numbers are posted next to the original artwork in the Auction tent - these are also the artist’s booth numbers for your reference.
Tips for Bidding
- You must be a registered user to bid. If you have not yet registered, click the REGISTER button at the top of the page.
- Internet access. You may bid for anywhere than you have Internet access. Go to www.scottsdaleartsfestival.org
- Minimum increments. All items have minimum increments for new bids (e.g., $1, $5 or $20) and additional bids. THE AMOUNT YOU BID MUST BE A MULTIPLE OF THAT INCREMENT. For instance, if an item has a $5 minimum increment and a current bid of $10, the minimum amount for the next bid would be $15. You could also bid $20 or $30 or $200, since each of those is a multiple of $5.
- Type of bid. Every time you place a bid, the system will ask whether you want to bid manually or by proxy.
· To bid manually, you enter an amount that will raise the bid only once. For instance, for an item with a current high bid of $20 and a $5 minimum increment, you might enter $25, $30 or $35. To raise your bid again, you will need to manually enter another, higher amount. · To bid automatically or by proxy, you may tell the system the maximum amount you are willing to pay and then let the system bid for you in increments, as often as necessary. For instance, the current bid on an item might be $20 and its minimum increment for new bids $5. If you chose a maximum bid of $40, the system would immediately bid $25 on your behalf ($20 + $5). Then, any time someone placed a higher bid than yours (e.g., $30), the system would automatically increase your bid (e.g., to $35) to keep you in the running. Once the system reached your maximum of $40, it would stop bidding automatically for you.
- Notification. Since you provided us with an e-mail address when you registered, you will be notified by e-mail when you have entered a successful bid, when you have been outbid or when you win a bid (see AUCTION INFO for information on how winning bids are determined).
Checking Your Bids/Changing Info and Password
- Your personal page. The MY AUCTION section has been set up for your convenience. Click on that button, and provide your Username and password. You will be directed to a “BIDDING” page with information on all items on which you have previously bid.
- Change your password. On your personal page, you will find a tab labeled, “ACCOUNT.” Click on it to verify your account information, e-mail address, Username and password. On the “ACCOUNT” page, you will also find buttons that allow you to request or make a change to each of these items.
